* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)

How on earth do you get baby to latch on without flashing boobie?. Once bubs is on thats fine cos i can cover up with a muslin cloth but it`s the getting her on in the first place thats tricky.

Hey hun, sorry I can't help you, but this is also something I am trying to figure out lol.
My little boy needs guidance to latch on the first time... usually one hand holding my breast to make my nipple stand out more, while directing it into his mouth. while the other hand holds him and fights off his little hands from going to his face and mouth lol.

So no idea how I would manage this in public without showing off both my stomach and breast!!!

Plus... how do people work out burping their babies and then getting them back on etc?

I'll await replies from people who know with you lol.

Are you a new mum? Sorry if you have a sig, I have a terrible memory today x

There isnt an easy answer - it is down to practice, sorry girls!

I have huge boobs (34 L), and can feed in public happily without bearin much at all - but something does have to give. The initial latch on, yes, there is nipple on display but the more you practise with the clothes you would wear to go out, the quicker you get. If it would make you comfier, cover up slightly with a blanket or muslin cloth for the initial latch on, until you have built up confidence (and got the 'knack!')

i hook the muslin into the stap on the side i am feeding on, then i tuck the other side into the other strap, i make a small drape at teh neckline so i can look in. i tuck baby and my hand under the muslin so i can guide and see from the top.

for winding i bring her out, wind and then as i know the muslin in in place i dont readjust clothes so i can just slip her back in.

sounds like a faf but it does get easier with practice on both of your parts.

ps i also have large boobs so i use my hand to hold boob gently whilst she feeds - because she is way to lazy to hold her latch!

nac I would of never thought of a muslin hooked onto my bra! I've tried it at home with his blanket, but it just kept falling off mid-feed lol. I'll def be practicing that one lol.

It's my birthday on the 17th and sometime around then we are going to a farm to watch sheep dog trails. So if I can master it by then I'll be well away :p

Keep up the good work girls Wink xxx

What a good idea with the muslin. I just had it tucked under one strap but couldn`t see penny to latch her on. I was looking at buying a breastfeeding sheet thing you put over you but that sounds like it would do the same job.
I am exactly the same Jane, trying to hold her hands out the way is a nightmare in it`s self.
Penny is now 7wks, i also have a boy whos 3. But i never BF him unfortunatly :tear: so this is all so new & quite scary as i really don`t know what i`m doing but i`m getting there.

I struggle sometimes especially trying to get lo latched i need an extra pair of hands

I've jsut come to the conclusion that my nipple maybe on show for a few seconds and if ppl don't like it then they shouldn't look.

We were in london today as my eldest had a casting shoot to go to, I had to feed lo when we arrived and the waiting area was packed so i had no choice to feed her no one was that bothered, We went to the science musem afterwards and feed her there too tho i must admit the cafe did empty pretty quickly tho.

Yesterday we had a picnic with friends ( i was abit uncomfortable the first time i feed her but the second time i wasn't that bothered).

I think it takes a lot of practice i do try and practise at home but 9 out 10 times i just get it out with out realising.

I'm thinking of getting one of those slings that you can feed them in but as money is tight i don't want to rush to buy one so off to car boot sunday to have a look.

Well i had a go at it today. Had a day out to Warwick Castle, as soon as i got there i saw a lady feeding her baby. She was stood up holding bubs againts her while talking to some people. I really wanted to go over & say to her "how do you do that?". But i didn`t. I managed to cover up quite well with a muslin but Penny was having no of it, she was really fussing & kept coming off. Plus where we were sat alot of people started coming over & sitting behind me. So in the end i found a lovely big tree well away from everyone leant up against that & fed her. But it wasn`t as bad as i thought it would be. I will practice at home with the muslin so Penny gets used to it & hopfully can venture into town & feed her in public.
