Slings (again! - sorry!)
Hi again
Well I know I have posted about slings already but I've just been looking into buying one and I don't want to buy the wrong one.
Daisy didn't like her ring sling at all, I was trying to carry her across me in it and she looked all squashed and unconfortable. But she doesn't like being put down much - unless its in her swing and I'd like to be able to carry her about more. Also, we took my son to a farm yesterday and all the way around the pathways were little stones so Daisy was getting bumped all over the place. I really could've donw with a sling.
I was looking at the mei tai ones, she'd be upright in that so might be more comfortable? But I wonder if she can go in it before she can hold her head up properly? Has anyone got one and do they like them? Are they easy to :boob: in?
Any help appreciated as hubby will moan if I buy another one that I won't use!
Thanks ladies

Have you tried her upright in the ring sling?
Here are a couple of great sites on baby wearing - all with video demos on how to wear!

I've been looking at the wraps and mei tai's and they are about £40 - £50!! Is it me or is that a ridiculous price?
Has anyone tried to make one instead? After all, the wraps are just a piece of material!

Some sling retailers will let you hire a sling to make sure you like it before you buy one.
I found a wrap very versatile and comfortable I have a moby
http://www.mobywrap.com/t-mobywrap.aspx
you can buy them in the uk
another good source of info is http://www.slingmeet.co.uk/ if there is a sling meet near you you can try lots of slings before you buy

Re: Slings (again! - sorry!)
Well, being my usual impatient self, I've been to my nearest fabric shop, I said to the girl there I need a piece of fabric 15 foot x 20 inches. She went to her calculator and said thats 2 and a half metres, so I picked a material and paid.
I bought it home and cut along 20 inches (I think it was 54 inches thick), went to wrap it around me, to find it was way too short. I measured it and its only about 9 foot long!!
Would you say thats my fault or the shops? Grrrr, I think I'll ring them and see what they say....
Sorry for all the thinking out loud!

Re: Slings (again! - sorry!)
I rang up and the woman said she meant I could cut strips and sew them together so now I've got to try and sew. :awno: I said if I'd known I'd have had one longer.
By the way, Congratulations Kay, 3 months today!! :flower1:

Re: Slings (again! - sorry!)
Thanks hun!!!
you need to ber careful stitching it - make sure it is strong - as it can cause weak points - the ideal is to have one long piece. Im sure you can stitch it - as i said, just make sure it is nice and strong!
