Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

topic 8 Quick questions

Post by jools Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:21 am

Hello everyone 👋

First of all I want to say a quick sorry. I haven't been on much recently and when I have got on I haven't done much posting - I seem to start reading or writing a reply and then I'm needed elsewhere at the moment! I just don't want anyone thinking I'm being ignorant on purpose Embarassed Embarassed Laughing

Anyway my questions are...
I never really pumped much with Brody as he would never have a bottle and what I did do I can't remember!
I have a hair appointment tomorrow afternoon which should take a couple of hours. Colby usually goes a couple of hours anyway but I don't want to risk not leaving anything for him.
The thing is, I only tried pumping for the first time yesterday and I think I have left it a bit late for Colby to try the bottle as he won't have the bottle either! Is it ok for him to have it from one of those sippi cups? It does say from 4 months on it but I just want to make sure Very Happy

My second question is, I'm pumping on the opposite boob to what Colby is feeding from at each feed (he very rarely has both sides) and I am getting an ounce or 2 each time. If I carry on doing this a few times today, will they all be ok in the fridge until tomorrow?

One last question, can I mix all these little bits in a cup together for him tomorrow?

Oooh oooh hang on one last one - how do you all warm it up?

I should know these things affraid Laughing Can you tell I'm never apart from him Embarassed Laughing

he sould be fine with a cup if he wont take a bottle - Corey took a bottle at this age so i could get my hair done ( the only time he ever did lol!)

you are doing great with the pumping - thats a good amount considering you dont really pump!

and as the others have said, warm it in hot water in whatever its in, swirl dont shake, and its fine to add the bits togehter that you collect over a 24 hour period.

and we want pics of your new hair!!

Thanks so much you 3 cheers cheers :aww: :aww:

I'm so nervous Embarassed I'm so scared he won't take the cup either. I know he probably won't even want anything while I am gone but it's just the thought of it :iconsad:
I've been so tempted to cancel the appointment - am I being silly? Embarassed

Course not - i still get like that now! :aww:

I think i remember reading it was an ounce an hour you should leave - and i was out for an hours hair appointment. I left 3 ounces, Dave said he had guzzled them from the bottle before i had even left the end of the road lol! Shocked

I found he took it fine at this age, and i think because i wasnt about - he HAD to take it off Dave - but all was fine.

Dont cancel - it will do you the world of good hunny xx :aww:

Thanks hun :aww:

Well so far I have 6 ounces and I'm sure I will be no longer than 2-2 1/2 hours and I'm going to express once more when he feeds next so I am sure there will be plenty.
I was just getting nervous in case he won't take it but I'm sure if he is hungry he will let Kev give him it Very Happy

Plus he is taking them into town straight away after I have fed him and he has dropped me off and then he is going for a drive before heading home so he will sleep for a good part of the time I am gone!

Aww hun im sure he will be fine, he may just wait until he sees you to feed.
Have you got any freezer bags or if not ice cube trays? would be a shame if it didn't get all used. I would just use about 3oz in the cup before putting it all in just incase.
