Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

I'm really thinking about stopping breastfeeding Rhianna, but I'm not sure how to, or if its worth the battles it will cause. Since Scarlett came along I've found it very uncomfortable, I just cant find a way to stop her leaving teeth marks which make me sore. She has a tiny bit before bed, but has fallen asleep a few times without recently. The main problem will be during the days we are at home, especialy every 2 or 3 days when she has a nap. She gets so tired and grumpy and really needs a nap, but will only fall asleep during the day after quite a lot of mummy milk. I've tried offering marshmallows, her absolute favourite instead, which works sometimes, but she's so stubborn, bribes dont often work with her. At the moment she's only allowed a little bit because its Scarletts and Scarlett's only little and cant eat yummy food like bacon sandwhiches. But she gets cross when Scarlett has her milk.
Any ideas?

I am not sure how you can stop. I tend to discourage from frequent feedings. I also know that as long as I am not sat on the sofa, she will be less inclined to feed. If I do, she will quite happily hop on my lap and take booby all day watching TV... so we go out or play games. Distraction really will help.

Will she ever stop by herself I wonder, I can see her carrying on till she's 5 no problem and she seems so big now. It feels strange, definitely not wrong, but strange with her being so big.
You're right about not sitting down, before Scarlett was born we had lots of days where we spent big chunks of time sitting and watching tv, having mummy milk and dozing.
Now its the constant nagging and demanding when she's tired or grumpy. She hasn't had MM out and about for a long long time, but she still asks for it. I'm torn over feeling embarrassed in front of other people and feeling cross with myself because I shouldn't be.
Today DH has been home and we always seem to spend more time sitting down watching tv when he's here, so she's had MM once, yesterday she didn't have any till she was in bed.
I wonder how long it would take for her to stop asking if I explained there was no MM during the day and then just kept her really busy during the day. A week, 2, maybe a month. Not sure I could cope with being that busy for a month.
I dont mind her having MM at night, its once Scarlett has gone to sleep and we have a little cuddle, she has milk for about 30 seconds and then rolls away and goes to sleep.
Sorry, I'm mumbling to myself now. If anyone's got a magic solution, please tell me.

with Corey i did it in a week, but i had the advantage of him not being able to see a baby feeding!
I think Rhi is at a better age to be able to explain to her, Corey did understand, but Rhianna ia about 18 months older than Corey was.
I did a no-no thing How to stop Icon_redface but it worked - I let him have bed time juice in a bottle. Its strange as he would NEVER have a bottle at all, with EBM, cows milk or juice in it, bur we went shopping, he chose a bottle, and that was his bed time 'comfort' instead of boobies.
I also refused him in the day, distracting him with food, and if he got really grumpy for a sleep, took him for a ride in the car to get him to sleep instead of boobs.
The only feeds i kept going for a couple of weeks were an evening and early morning, but these dwindled within a couple of weeks.

I can easily see lil miss going on to 5. EASILY. I went away for 3 days in Feb. She missed me but I was hoping that she would give up breastfeeding...nope...I walked through the front door and she screamed boobies and was off again. I know what you mean by weird....It's probably harder for you because you have a baby again. As I've got nothing to compare too I still see the little baby in her face when I'm feeding.
