Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Its come to an end Empty Its come to an end

Ellie has now not fead from me for approaching 72hrs. The last week or so she suddenly significantly reduced how much she was taking to only about 5 or she sucks on each breast (she stopped one and then asked for the other), she would then sit up, have her milk and give me my top to put back on. Saturday night she didn't make any indication that she wanted me to feed her, so I gave her beaker and sat with her for a while before putting her to bed, and she went down happily. The same last night. So I think it is well and truly over now. I am pleased but can't help feeling a bit sad about it.

:aww: it is a bittersweet feeling isn't it?

Remember the hormones involved in breastfeeding are "feel good" ones and as your levels drop you may feel a bit down.

You should feel really proud of yourself you have given Ellie the best possible start :boob: cheers

I was getting worried at one point that she would never settle to bed without a feed. Now she has I feel really sad about it. She just can't win can she :-)

completely agree, you've done a fantastic job and an excellent role model for such as me who have given up in the very earlier stages.

Once again well done. Very Happy

well done youve done a fantastic job! it is better thing youve done letting her stop by herself, at least you know she wanted to and you havent gone through the trauma of stopping her. it is a bitter sweet feeling though and youre not alone if you feel sad about it :aww: :aww: :aww:
