routine
i know - the word routine and demand breastfeeding dont sit well.
but i was fading fast with hourly feeds for a healthy term baby of good weight! so on the advice of a good friend and seasoned breastfeeder i got my little one to 3 hrs between feeds and we are both a bit more sane about breastfeeding now!! but--- theres is always a but!!! in the evenings she still wants to feed every hour till she sleeps - is this normal for an 8 week baby? when she is done she sleeps well during the night, should i just count my blessings.
oh and she still does the clicking with her tongue whilst feeding, im sitting her more up right and her latch seem okay (no pain for me, draining breast well).
thoughts welcomed,
Nac

Re: routine
Corey still feeds like that in the evenings - known as 'cluster feeding'.
Like you say - it sets them up well for the night! Corey generally sleeps very well from about 10pm until 6am - and i think this is partly down to his natural eating pattern in the evening.

Re: routine
lil miss would do that although she is far better now she is older. tbh I didn't try and get her into a routine before 12 weeks.. I found lil miss sort of settled into her own routine around then.. They do tend to stretch out the feeds... although lil miss would feed every hour or so if we were at home, and still does at times.... If we went out and about and she had something to have a look at and do, she would go longer. maybe every 2 hours... so well done you getting a 3 hour stretch inbetween...

Re: routine
Ellie did this for a long while. It is often termed cluster feeding. I later found out it was something people suggest to help LO sleep better /through the night.
I tried to get Ellie to feed every 3 hrs as well - however if she demanded it sooner, I fed her sooner, but during the day I didn't let her go longer than 3hrs before offering her another feed. I think this helps them sleep well at nights as well.

Re: routine
thanks all for feedback and for the welcome.
i have lovely friends who held and entertained her to get her into the rhythm of 3 hours but its not hard and fast rule, if she needs me sooner i feed her.
i am thinking of donating to a milk bank as im expressing and have freezer stocked.
Any thoughts?
