Am i doing things right?
My dd is now 7wks old, but i don`t see any pattern to her feeding. Sometimes she will have a good feed maybe take both sides & then drops of to sleep but will only be asleep half an hour & wants feeding again. Other times she will feed only for 5 or 10 minutes fuss about abit then want more. She tends to cluster feed in the evening. Also after a feed if i put her down in her cot/bouncy chair or mosses she will lie there for a few minutes then cry till she`s picked up she just doesn`t seem to settle very well.
When will i see abit more of a routine to bf? my son was ff so all this feeding has come as abit of a shock.

Re: Am i doing things right?
you are doing perfect!!!!
You are following your baby's clues and this is most important: for her to get plenty of milk, and grow strong and for you to produce enough milk to satisfy her :aww:
She will lears by herself to stretch a bit times between feeding. Right now her tummy is small and can only take little milk in and you need to remember breastmilk is sooo perfect is digested easy and she is hungry often becasuse that. Cluster feeding in the evening is perfectly normal and awsome, for your supply- which is still establishing-its considered supply is established between 8-10 weeks and for her to get lots good quality milk. It is known that levels of maternal milk are lover in the evening BUT higher in calories and fat!How cool is that?!
I think she just likes to be close to you, smell you and feel her mommy :aww:
They grow bit more independent when learn to spend more time on their tummy, learn to roll, sit etc. Now everything is still so new and so scarry for her, her sight is still improving and you are the "one" she knows best and the "one" providing security, food and love.
As far for routine- I hate this word! Slowly you'll see some kind off pattern emerging, in her feeding and sleeping; especially if you have quite regular life style- you get up to get older kids ready for school, drops off or play groups, then lunch time and similiar- most mums prefer feed baby before they elave home and before they start cooking etc and this is another way to get some kind of shcedule, but keep in mind to feed baby on clue.
To make life more easy: did you consider wearing her in sling or some kind of baby carrier? You can do so much more with baby hapily tucked in a carrier and even feed her and have hands free for other things/ kids
I think you are doing great job! :aww: I'm a "second" chance bf mama myself- it didn't quite work out with my older son but with help and support, second time around I'm still bf Maya at 19 months

Re: Am i doing things right?
I can only second what Katie has said :aww:
Im a 3rd chance breastfeeding mama, so its all been new to me too - and i dont think (at least in my case) breastfeeding and routine go hand in hand, but i have a far happier, content, well, baby.
You are doing just fine hun - Corey still goes through phases like this at 5 1/2 months!

Agree with everyone also, its very normal and will be like this through out the first year especialy.
Just follow her cues and she will find her own routine, enjoy this time...... it doesn't last long :aww:
