Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Post by jimmer73 Tue Aug 28, 2007 3:32 pm

Hi I'm Jaime and I have been bf for nearly 10months. We had a rocky start, my milk didn't come in so I had to lactate. My son was born 8lbs 12oz and by Day 7 he was 7lbs. That was when the midwives realised something was not quite right.

The lactating process was long, arduous, soul destroying but so, so, worthwhile. Thankfully after a couple of weeks of lactating my milk came in and we have had no problems since. (except for a few plugged ducts which DS is quite efficient at unplugging. :boob: )

I look forward to getting to know all you ladies and sharing my experiences and learning from you all.

Hi Jaime!!

Its really great to see you here.. somehow, I didn't know about your rocky start.. or forgot.. bad mommy brain... but I am so glad you made it through, and are going strong.. your strength and perseverence (sorry sp) are such an inspiration!

:lmao:

No I'm not an inspiration, just downright stubborn.

The women who relactate long term are those that are truly inspirational.
I just did what I needed to do to fulfill my Mummy instincts.
