Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

topic2 Was worried about my daughter today!

Post by Pink Rose Mon Oct 06, 2008 2:55 pm

Today when I got home from picking my oldest 4 yr daughter up from part-time school. She said she's very unhappy and demanded that she didn't want to go back to school ever and ever!!

I said why? She says that a certain girl in her class is picking on her because she can't write her name out yet and do the hop-scotch properly in the playground. This girl had also called her "slow-coach", "scary-cat" "you can't write!". I got really worried cos of my daughter being left-handed and wasn't like the other children and is still struggling to write even letters and wasn't sure-footed as the rest (very clever and bright though!). I could see obviously my daughter was very unhappy and she had also revealed to me that her teacher was demanding her to write her other family members names out too!

So I dashed off back to the school with my daughters in hand and had a word with her teacher. Apparently the teacher said there was no way she would push my daughter to write when she's not ready and it must have been this girl my daughter keeps hanging around with and she saw them together playing 'writing'. The teacher was very nice and sat my daughter down on her knee and listened to her and boy! my DD did have a lot to say!Laughing and then teacher told her not to worry and that she will have a word with the whole class about 'friends' and will pair her up with another girl tomorrow and reminded her that was a puppy coming in school tomorrow.

So to my relief my daughter is now feeling happier and likes to go to school tomorrow! And, I am so glad I sorted it out! cheers bliss

:aww:

Its always worth going back and talking to the teachers - we so often get a varied report of the day! I have always found the teachers to be helpful if there is a problem - but doesnt it break your heart when they come home upset? pale
I hate thinking they are away from me and upset :tear:

my third Marianne went through a phase in yr1 of always running after me when id dropped her off, i was quite worried so went to the teacher thinking there was a serious problem i.e bullying. when we eventually got to the bottom of it she told the teacher she just preferred being at home with me because it was more fun! the teacher was highly amused but it was worth talking to her cos then we could help her get over it. she is left handed too, when she first started to write she wrote in mirror writing i.e mazza was assam (her alter ego!) it hasnt held her back any though shes in yr 5 now and in the top classes!
