topic2 Oli is never going out without a harness again

Post by Natasha Thu May 21, 2009 7:49 am

I nearly lost Olivia yesterday :iconsad:

I have clamed down about it now but she nearly got run over.

If I hadn't got to her in time like I did that would of been it.

We went to my friends who is a few doors down, and decided not to put her harness on as we were not going far.

We left and Olivis had some toys in her hands so couldn't hold them.

I was outside her house and Oli started walking off, Iasked her to come back and she said no.

I started going towards her and she said no and started running pale

I ran after her screaming because she was heading for the road.

She ran into the road and as I grabbed her a car sped right next to her, if I hadn't grabbed her then she woudl of died.

I was a right mess about it yesterday, I am ok now but still a little shaken.

I have never felt what I felt yesterday, and hope I never do again :iconsad:

Shocked :aww: :aww: its scary isnt it? i still have aeryn wear a backpack with her 'lead' attatched - through experience you never know when theyre going to bolt! when theres no cars about i let her hold hands but when we get to main roads i always hold the strap
dont know if you kbow what the backpack is so i will try to find a link, its like reins only attatched to a bag so its a little more grown up so therefore easier to make them wear and they can carry things with them!
hope youre ok xx

this is one of the ones aeryn uses but you can get them in the shape of ladybirds or frogs, which she got first but passed on to willow!

Very Happy theyre really sweet! look really comfy too which i think is half the battle with normal harnesses, thats why we ended getting the bags cos aeryn hated the normal reins xx

:aww: We always live a life of 'what ifs' when we have kids, we just have to thank our lucky stars and try and learn from them :bighug:

I bought a baby trooper after you gave me the link last time, i got the khahki one, its great! I also picked up a winnie the pooh backpack one out of Home Bargain for £3.99 :omg!: for when he is a bit older, so he doesnt realise he is on a harness, as such!

Aww Natasha that must have been so scary. :tear: :aww:
I hope you are ok :aww: :aww:

This is the main reason Brody still spends alot of time in the buggy. He is getting better at holding hands but sometimes he just slips out of my grip and it's scary! He has one of the tortoise backpack things which I'm going to try again (he used to lean forward when we were walking)

How awful for you - these kiddies like to add years to us don't they!!

Emily walks ok without reigns but when she is with Connor I (and Gary) have to keep her in the buggy!

Connor did something very similar to me this week - I stopped to talk to Gary on the way to a course after work and Connor thought I was picking them up. As I started to pull away Connor ran infront of the car to get in his side (luckily I just saw him go and stopped) but it is that WHAT IF moment. Shocked

Like the idea of the reign backpacks and will look into it - thanks for the idea.

Glad she is ok and hope you are ok after your fright :aww:

:aww: Thank you everyone.

Yes her harness is fantastic, I love it. Shes very secure in it and even when dead leg its quite strong and doesn't hurt her.

I will look into a pack pack though as I think she will like that more now shes getting older and more 'consious' of what shes wearing and what she wants Rolling Eyes Razz

I do feel much better about it now, and how I feel is it was like someone was on our side that day, sounds rediculus but how close she was to almost certain death is just terribly frightning.

Very Happy Yeah all fine now.

I love the harness but because of dead legs the straps are wearing now, Ive had it for nearly a year so its served well!

Going to get another when Charlotte starts walking, but im planning on wearing her longer than I did Livi Very Happy
