Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Announcement new mommy

Post by Lisbe Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:41 am

Hi

I'm Lisbe a new mom to Juane, born 5 May 2009 and very proud to still breastfeed at 7 weeks. My little girl had jaundice quite badly and I was advised to stop breastfeeding her as she did not gain weight. I, however, rather chose to top up the breast milk with formula and after getting rid of the jaundice we are no exclusively breastfeeding for a week!!

Must admit, breastfeeding is hard work and I find myself quitting daily! Up to now I telling myself to only try today and then I can quit tomorrow seem to work. Reading about similar experiences also help me to keep going and thats basically why I joined this forum.

Welcome hunny - at 7 weeks you have just conquered the most difficult part of breastfeeding - it (pretty much) plain sailing from here!

Read away, and ask questions when you need to - or just a banter when you need it!

Ive just had a look at the link you have put on hun and read your experience at breastfeeding group - thats terrible! Evil or Very Mad :aww:

We are always here hun, but like you say, if you wanted some more 'local' advice, you could always try ringing the breastfeeding support line, details are on out homepage. If you phone of your landline, it automatically puts you through to your nearest supporter, who is an experienced breastfeeding mother who has treined to become a counciller. They will talk to you on the phone, and come for home visits if nesseccary. Its an invaluable service if you need help there and then!

And thankyou for recommending us ladies! :group hug:
