Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Does anybody have any experience of this. We think that Ellie might have it, and the advice on net doctor is that you treat the whole family, but the drugs it list both say you shouldn't take whilst BF. Also would we need to treat Keira as the over the counter drugs aren't suitable for her?

Thanks

i went through this not so long ago Aeryn caught them when she first went to school, she HATED the taste of the medicine, didnt get any into her at all so ended up going to the dr where i didnt get much joy he didnt know quite what to suggest though he did prescribe for the whole family
i ended up giving my older girls the tablet and spoon feeding aeryn the awful red stuff mixed wth apple juice and a strawberry after every mouthfull. i didnt give willow any and took none myself asi was feeding her and there was no sign of the threadworms in her poo
do make sure the towels and bed linen are washed after youve done the treatment cos aparently the eggs can be on there
i think there are some natural remidies available but not too clued up on them x

I strongly advise you to see your GP and have her poo (and all of other members) tested. x

I agree with Katie.

Keep washing linen as suggested and consult your doctor.

Heres a great site about different treatments x

This is a brilliant link thankyou.

We went to the doctors yesterday and saw the nurse. She said the tummy ache wouldn't be caused by the worms but just read this on the link

"A disturbed nights sleep, tummy ache, irritability and loss (or an increase) of appetite can all be signs of worms. "

These all apply, and she told me it wasn't related. I treated her and hubby tonight but she wouldn't perscribe anything for me as I am BF or for Keira. I have been feeling itchy for the last 24hrs but not badly AND only when I think about it, so I am not sure if it is just because I am thinking of them? Tomorrow I am working from home so I will get all the bed linen, towels, toys which go to bed with her washed as I am at home I will be able to keep changing things over.

She said there was no way she could tell it was worms without a stool sample but told me they were white and I went on line to try and find a photo (failed) but did get a description and I got Ellie to use a potty for her poo's last night. Close examination I found 2 what I would have thought were cotton threads if I hadn't been looking for them. So she definitely has it and OH think he has it as well.

Reading through the dietary tips I am doing quite a few of them already in the diet I am following to loose weight, so maybe this is why I have been less affected.

This wasn't offered at all, I was hoping it would be, but didn't seem bothered by it.
