Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

DO i have to cut down on feeding to get pregnant? i really don't want to cut down unless Ben wants too (i've been advised to give him more solids and less boob cas he doesn't have enough solids) WE'VE BEEN TTC FOR 9 MONTS NOW but i think cas he feeds alot the prolactin is inhibiting me getting preggers, i did get a almost + on a opk the other day so maybe i'm getting my cycles back (hope so lol)

there are quite a few ladies on here that have got pregnant on here while breastfeeding, so dont give up hope!

Corey was still feeding regularly day and night (like newborn!!) when i concieved, but this was when he was about 22 months.

have your periods returned yet? there is no definate as to when they return, but mine returned at 8 months. some women dont get them til they stop. this isnt to say you wont OV tho!

dont worry too much about the solids - Corey was more interested in boobs than anything else until past 1, but now he eats like a horse! Little one will be getting more calories from the breastmilk anyway, so dont worry too much!
these are the WHO guidelines as to how much booby / solids a baby needs at what age: http://www.who.int/features/qa/21/en/index.html

well from personal experience it doesnt make any difference how much youre feeding! i concieved my 3rd while bf my 2nd who was about 5 or 6mths and exclusively bf, i hadnt restarted my periods! (i went for nearly 3 years without one!)
i also concieved my 5th while bf my 4th she was between 12 and 18mths and still bf alot!
i suppose everyones body works in different ways though Do i have to cut down? Icon_biggrin

My period didn't return until around 10 months last time so I expect it will be the same this time round.

Well I'm one of the unlucky few who got my periods back after 28 days. I was so mad as I was hoping for at least another 6 months without them. When the MW and HV both suggested my bleeding might be a period I was like no way I'm breast feeding, but lo and behold a month after that I bled too and they've been as regular as clockwork since Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes
However, I don't think I ovulated until DD was 6 or 7 months, I certainly had no OV symptoms to speak of before then. And DD still feeds LOTS!!!! and I've had 2 BFP's in the last 2 months. Both sadly were not meant to be, but I know things are working at least, just have to hope my body becomes strong enough to cope with a continuing pregnancy.

Tell us about yourself : I'm a SAHM to Kacie aged 10.5 months. I'm very into an AP way of life, baby-wearing, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, etc. We're coming up to one year and I'm looking for places where I won't be looked down on for extended breastfeeding. I have no intention of weaning until Kacie wants to. We're also traying to conceive baby no. 2, so really hoping to tandam feed and will be looking for support to do this too.
