Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

I wont ramble but I will give you some back ground Very Happy

Due to medical problems DS2 was induced at 35 weeks. Due to being severely jaundiced he had to go in to nicu was in an incubator and we were only allowed to touch him when we changed him or fed him

As you probably already know jaundice babies sleep so DS2 had to be woken for feeds every 1 1/2 hours one would be BF one would be expressed milk by tube.

12 days later we are allowed home and he has not looked back we started weaning him 2 days ago and I can safely say he is a bit of a chunk Laughing

Welcome Smile

Lil miss was jaundiced but came naturally at 38 weeks. She was in NICU for a few days too...although she didn't sleep much and the nurses there force fed formula in her to keep her asleep. All she wanted to do was breastfeed but apparently my breastmilk was poisoning her causing the jaundice. I later found out that breastmilk jaundice doesn't start at 2 days old and the likelihood of her jaundice is her early self eviction and/or the clamping of the cord before it's finished pumping. Unfortunately Spanish doctors are incredibly breastfeeding ignorant.
