Positive BF experience yesterday!
Was walking around carboot sale with Corey feeding in the ringsling.
Jamie stopped at a stall and bought a small toy, and the guy on the stall said
'Wow, are you breastfeeding in there?'
'Yes' I said, a little cautiously wondering what was to follow....
'Oh how brilliant! Breast is beast - my Mrs bf all of ours! Well done to you!'
We proceeded to have a long conversation on the benefits and easiness of breastfeeding - he was very passionate!

Re: Positive BF experience yesterday!
Thats great hunni, well done to you (I'm new by the way, this is my first post if your wondering why you've never seen me on here before, lol).
I have a 1 week old little boy who I am bf'ing, and I am so worried about how I will feed on demand when we go out anywhere. Right now I am trying to master getting him to latch on right away... as at the moment it can take a good ten minutes.
He's struggled since my milk came in (only weighed 5lbs 9oz at birth so his mouth is tiny). But we are getting better everyday
Well done for bf'ing in public, I can't wait to be in your position and progressing further. It's so nice when people can give positive comments about it, instead of always negative!! Keep it up x

:aww: Thanks jane - welcome to the forum!
Keep going with the latch - you will get there! get your Midwife or health visitor to have a look - or we have some great videos from Dr Jack Newman - ill dig the link out for you in a minute!
The feeding in public - i was nervous at first - now i love it! I feel very liberated, and can honestly say i have only ever had positive comments (I think its only the negatives that get the press - and very few people on here have had a negative experience!)
Oh - and big congratulations on the birth! :aww:

Re: Positive BF experience yesterday!
Thanks, to be honest I am getting better aswell the more I heal (had labour and then an emergancy section last minute). So was a bit of an emotional shock for me.
I think once I'm healed I will be able to try different positions for feeding with him, and I won't feel as emotional when we have problems.
Got the midwife coming tomorrow, because of the feeding problems. He seems to be eating tons today, lol.And he is sleeping excellent.
While I stayed in the hosp to recover from my c section, I breast fed behind the curtain.. but on the last day and a half I was brave and left the curtain open... so all on same ward could see. And I felt so good! x

Brilliant!
It is a case of just building confidence about feeding in public - you sound like you're pretty much there any way!
Glad someone is coming out to you - you can also ask if there are any breastfeeding supporters / lactation consultants in your area for extra help with latch and positioning. And maybe a baby cafe or breastfeeding support group nearby - they are always good to try out nursing in public as everyone else is doing the same as you!

Re: Positive BF experience yesterday!
Sorry to hijack - Jane have you tried feeding lieing down? I was recommended it as I was in so much pain sitting due to stitches, and the breast feeding councillor said that c-section people also find it a lot better to use while they are still healing as well.

Re: Positive BF experience yesterday!
hi many congratulations on your beautiful baby, well done for perservering with the breastfeeding even though it doesnt seem so straightforward as yet. it does sort itself out with some help, and practice by you and baby.
it only seems like yesterday my 13 week old baby was a newborn! i remember my husband and i taking her out at day 4 and practically running around the shops in fear she would wake and i would need to feed her outdoors.
now i am proud to say i have fed her on every bench, park, shop in my home town. i refuse point blank to feed her in baby changing rroms i feel strongly that its not right to do that. even when it was pointed out helpfully to me by a m&s staff member whilst i fed in the shoe department - well they had seats!
i carry a musling cloth and hook it through the strap of my bra so its secure then i just pop her under, i can see through the top if she need help in getting latched although she has learnt to root around and latch on her own.
i have had nothing but positive smiles and nods by men women and children. i feel i am a good role model for women who want to breastfeed in public but are a bit shy.
breastfeeding my baby is a massive achievement by me and i am proud of the nuturing i am giving my baby.
all the very best to you and all.
