Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Ear infection and sceptic thumb Empty Ear infection and sceptic thumb

Post by nickyjones Wed Aug 13, 2008 2:31 pm

Ellie has an ear infection and a sceptic thumb. She has also a cough as well. It all started with the cough waking her during the night, she then sucked her thumb loads more to settle herself and that caused the skin to break and then turn sceptic. She is on peniccillin now, however is there anything else I can do to ease her discomfort?

Thanks all.

She is also still asleep after 2hrs nap. This is unheard of for her. I would normally wake her.... but with the ear infection, cough and infected thumb I wonder if sleep is the best thing?

aww bless her poor baby! cool yogurt would soothe fever and cool her and help boost up her friendly bacteria.

And I can only agree: sleep is best medicine. She is probably off the food also, so plenty of liquid and sleep is best for her :aww:

I hope she'll wake up feeling better, poor baba! :aww:

She is definitely doing a bit better. She slept through last night which is the first time for about 5 days. Her thumb burst yesterday so looks horrible but I think it is now less painful for her as there is a lot less pressure there now. Thanks very much for asking.
