Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Right i no milk is the most important food for baby for the 1st year. Thats why i'm worried about when i go in hospital next friday cos bethany will only take a sip here and there of my milk from a cup (finally!).

So say if she went a couple of days with only a few sips of my milk (they still say she cant be with me overnight) but was having solids - will she be ok? Or will she just make up for it when i am finally able to feed her properly when i get out of hospital?

Plus its really doing my head in now - i've been pumping away for half hour and have only managed to express just over 1 oz! Any suggestions? I'm eating loads of porridge (gonna make some flapjacks thiis weekend) and drinking loads of fluids. Do you think i should get some fenugrek just for the lead up to going in hospital?

Oh hun how frustrating for you. I think you might find she takes more when your not around to give it to her.
When i first started to express i only got 1oz at a time. It takes a while to build the amount up. I used fenugreek and it worked for me. I would give it a try. Only express for 20 mins at a time, you don't want to make yourself sore.
Good luck with everything

Yeah jane its a big relief! Thanks girls :aww:

Oh and to top it all off - she's just woke crying. Now usuallly if adam goes in to see she's ok, he'll just come and give her to me. But instead he picked her up and rocked her to sleep. Another relief lol cheers
