Would you BF another persons baby?
Just curious. Had this topic on another forum and now I'm thinking about it. I think I would if it was my sisters, but that's about it..

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
I think in the cases where say the mum was unwell, and went to hospital and there was no breastmilk stored and she really didn't want her baby having formula, I think your natural instinct as a breastfeeding mother would be to breastfeed and look after the child.
I know certainly in that circumstance I would, a baby isn't fussed as long as it gets fed, whos boob it is I don't think would really bother a young child to much, which used to really upset me in some ways as I always felt that Oli could and would only be fed by me. But infact she proberly wouldn't be too botherd about it as long as she was fed.
Of course there is nothing more important for the child to feel close to its mother, and be fed by the pne and only person who has that perfect balance just for them.
But when it comes down to it, if I was unwell I would certainly look into either getting donated breast milk or if someone I knew very well was willing I would let them.

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
Great question - I've thought about this. I've enquired with my local milk bank about donation so hoping to help that way. As for BFing a child myself, I think my sisters or a close friends, but I think that doing it for a stranger wouldnt really happen as you wouldnt expect them to have their baby stay with someone they didnt know and I'm not sure how it would work otherwise.

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
I remember we had this debate when that program was on = other peoples breastmilk.
I would - defo family, or a close friend. On a few occassions i have been with breastfeeding friends and gone to nurse their LOs forgetting theyre not mine!

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
I would if it was an emergency but not as an everyday thing...well unless they employ me as a wet nurse
I can't really comment about sibling as neither of my siblings will ever be allowed to have babies. If they ever can.
I think it would feel weird...They are like lil miss' boobs not some other kids...but then it might have something to do with me being slightly scared by other peoples children.

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
I would do it, for friend family or stranger, although in reality I probably wouldn't as I'd have to be with the baby all the time and with my own family commitments, but the BFing itself I'd have no problem with it. And if I couldn't breastfeed for whatever reason I would let someone else do it for my baby.

Re: Would you BF another persons baby?
I probably would offer to donate milk to people closer to me but if it was an emergency situation I would do it without a shadow of a doubt. There was a policewoman in China who breastfed babies whose mothers had died or were missing when there was an earthquake (I think it was nine babies). Obviously this would not be long term - just to keep them going in the shortterm .
