Human Milk 4 Human Babies (HM4HB) is a global network represented by community pages for each state/province/country. These pages provide a space where families in need can connect with women who have milk to share. HM4HB affirms that human milk is the biological norm for human infants and children. HM4HB does not support the sale of human milk.

Hi

I thought I would spread the word on this wonderful group.

Here is some information taking from Eats on Feets

EoF is a global network of mothers, connected to each other, to facilitate the sharing of breast milk. Mothers give to other mothers, or fathers, who have babies who need more milk than can be supplied by the mother, or within the family set up.

The World Health Organisation recommends that babies receive milk from their mother first, and then milk from another mother if the mother is struggling, or absent. Commercial formula is fourth on the list, just above raw animal milk. This is due to the health risks associated with not breastfeeding, and with using formula.

In the UK, we have a well established, but tiny, network of milk banks attached to hospitals. These banks collect, screen and store breast milk for the sickest premature babies in intensive care. If you are considering donating milk in the UK then donating to a milk bank would be an option. There is a link below.

http://www.ukamb.org/

If you cannot donate to the milk banks, or don't wish to, then Eats of Feets can help you find others in the UK in need of your milk. Some mothers do both of course!

If you are seeking donated milk within the UK, this is the place for you.

The decision to use donated milk, and how you will mediate the obstacles and risks of doing so, should be made before joining this site. Information to help you balance the risks of donated milk, versus the risks of using commercial formula, can be found on the main EoF site ~http://www.eatsonfeets.org ~. If you find the FAQs are not supplying the information you need, please message the admin people here, and we will try to address the information in the FAQ if we can.

Equally, if you have decided to donate your milk to a baby in need, you need to consider how you will respond to screening and lifestyle information requests. More information on this is in the FAQ under the welcome tab.

Please note: Eats on Feets is a contact network. We don't give advice on whether or not donation is the right decision for your baby. We don't screen milk, or arrange matches. We don't tell women what to do with their own milk. We just supply information and support, for those seeking to share, and those in need. Peer to peer support, on finding milk once you've decided that donation is the appropriate pathway for your baby. We believe mothers can make their own, informed choices. More information available in the FAQ.

Finally, if you are having any problems with breastfeeding, and require support, please contact the National Helpline. It's a free phone telephone number. There are also 4 breastfeeding support charities in the UK, offering mother to mother support on breastfeeding. Donation is a pathway only when you absolutely know for sure, you don't have enough milk supply yourself, and there is a great deal that can be done, to keep your baby,at your breast. Please contact them for advice and support if you are having any breastfeeding issues.

Eats on Feets UK is about empowering women to make their own informed choices. We hope we can share our resources with each other.

<TR><td>"I started this page (the original EOF page) after receiving a phone call from a mom who was desperate to find breast-milk for her newborn. I posted her needs on Facebook and the response was immediate and fantastic. I thought it would be awesome if there were a page dedicated to milk sharing and tribe nursing. So, this is a networking page for moms to share and receive milk when needed. I am not responsible for milk sharing results or content shared by other posters. And a note of caution; KNOW THY SOURCE. While it is true that tribe feeding offers MANY benefits, there is ALWAYS the risk of disease/contamination.I support many causes and movements but in the spirit of keeping the site as focused as possible status updates are specific to milk sharing."

~ A WORD FROM SHELL ~
(The original Eats On Feets Creator)
With Shell's approval, Eats On Feets GLOBAL was initiated by Shell's good friend Emma Kwasnica. It's hub is on the FB page INFORMED CHOICE : BIRTH AND BEYOND. Safe mother to mother milk sharing is part of INFORMED CHOICE for today's childbearing/-rearing women!
