Both, Kay...
Plain is the best. Just get a face cloth, fold so its like pad and put yogurt on it and in your nickers. Its nice and soothing too. After 15 min take out and do't wash off, i know it sounds gross, but works. And repeat every so often. But make sure to use clean clothe every time and wash used ones in hot water.
Some say washing with water with a bit of vinegar helps too; a tsp of vinegar on bowl of water and no soap!!!
The same with bath, hun!No bubbles foa a while!
And probiotic drinks to drink, hehe.
I got this mary wash from boots, its in a foam, its called intimate care feminine wash. Its brilliant, really gantle and contains lactic acid.

The list of food advised to avoid contains:

  1. sugar. yeasts "eat" sugar to grow;
  2. all yeast products, like all yeast based bread, buns, etc; beer, wine.
  3. grapes;
  4. mushrooms, all fungi and all blue cheeses, brie, etc.

Everything what has anything to do with yeasts.
Theory says thet if there is to much yast in gut and friendly bacteria and body defences can't cope wit fighting it, yeast "leaks" to body cousing thrush; oral or vaginal, or in other places, like between toes,in belly button, etc- everythere where is nice, warm and moist for yeasty beasty to grow.

When you- any of reading lurkers- is prescribed antibiotics you should start taking extra doses of "friendly bacteria", in little pro-biotic dring form, yogurt, etc. Where I cam from for doctors it is norma practice to give prescription for Acidophilus, in form of dry capsules ot other. I was v suprised when I got prescrition form English gp and no "bio defences"!

I'm sure Lisa will have more information. All this is just of the top of my head. lol

I'm not going to call it Mary Thrush for obvious reasons, but is this the 1st time you've got it recently? I always get it if I'm on antibiotics, or if I use an expensive bubble bath. If you dont get it often you dont realy need to alter your diet, and I was told you cant catch it, so I've never worried about Chris. Its something we've always got, but is only sometimes a problem.

Ps. love your baby picture, I only got a scan at 16 weeks so she still looked like an alien. Do you know if its a he or she?

Its a He Mary - another one!
I dont get thrush too often - and for you, i will stop calling it Mary thrush Smile

Dave has got it, he's very sore, so we both following the natural remedies at the moment - live yoghurt, pro-biotic yoghurt drinks, bi-carbinate baths and cotton pants! Ive tried caneston, but to be honest, it doesnt do much for me, im finding the naturals are working better.
I read on Lisa's link to use calendula soap, but havent found any yet, but i did find some calendula moist toilet wipes in holland and barrett - they are soooo soothing!!!

Thanks for all the help and get better wishes girls - it hurts to even sit sometimes Sad

Well, seems to be on the mend!

Still uncomfy, but nowhere near as bad as it was!

TBH, its actually better after doing nothing. Last night I didnt use anything, and woke up feeling much better this morning.
The only thing I have continued doing is wearing cotton pants (or none Embarassed ) and drinking probiotic yoghurt drinks (mainly cos the kids got a taste for them and i got a fridge full hehe!)

Thanks girls - and if any one else is suffering or does suffer - the links provided by Lisa were really helpful!
(I might make them into a sticky if Lisa doesnt object.... :p: )

Thanks girls :bighug:
