Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times

We had to admit we don't know why the advice worked. But the scientists have always wanted proof. Now the tough question is: will this proof save more lives? Will the single mum living in a miserable tower block, who clings to her pack of ciggies as the only thing that keeps her sane, be able to kick the habit? I think not. And that's what's stopping us from saving those 300 precious lives a year.

This is so true.

My mother in law couldn't understand why I had such strong feelings about her sitting her grandaughter (not my child) on her knee while she smoked a cigarette. THIS IS WHY!

It is tragic - good on those mums who manage to fight their addictions!
