Moon Cup
Dont know if anyone has heard of this, but it is a great alternative to tampons/towels.
Its a small silicone cup that sits similar to a tampon, except it is reusable (lasts about 10 years i think).
I read an advert on it and was a bit sceptical, my first thought was :fim: !!!
but when i looked it up on the internet i was quite intrigued, abd I bought one online for about £14.99 (the average costs of 6 months worth of sanitary products).
I started using it, and it was great! I even found my cramping was less (it said this on the websites but i was sceptical!)
You have to be quite comfortable with your body to be able to use it effectively, but i really think it is a great invention - especially as quite a lot of us are as environmentally friendly as we can be.
Obviously i am not using at the moment :preg: but I thought i would recommend it as I know many of you are just getting your delightful periods back again

Ps Boots have started stocking them, £19.99 I think, but they sometimes have them on offer on their advantage card machine

Re: Moon Cup
I have thought about getting one, but aren't they abit messy?
And what about when your out and you need to empty it?

Re: Moon Cup
They were my initial thoughts, but tbh, both were fine.
I find because i have LO's, most toilets i use have a sink in them if you do need to change when out, but you can actually go all day if you need to as there is no associated risk with TSS with these. One tip was to carry moist wipes in your handbag (we always have wetwipes anyway lol!).
The messy side of things, it is a little strange at first, but you actually lose much less than you would expect - pads etc make you feel like you lose loads, but actually you dont. and you really dont think about it after 1st couple of times - even Dave thinks its good now - and he thought it was a repulsive idea!
As I said, if you are comfortable with your body, you will be fine with it. If you are a bit prudish about 'down there' its probably not for you!

Re: Moon Cup
Oh no im not at all prudish!
I will have to look into this, I hate pads, I prefer tampons but they are not practical at night.
How are they at night?

Re: Moon Cup
Night is the best bit, you dont even think about it - and unlike pads and tampons, you dont have to get up to change it every few hours. Night was also my worst time for cramping, and i found this was a lot less (not gone completely, but defo better).
I also think it is better for those horrible bits when your period is just starting or finishing - its safe to wear even even when you are not on your period. Thats what i didnt like about tampons - i couldnt wear them at start and end.
