Stinking cold... what can I take??
Hi ya...
Both me and my little man Leon have had stinking colds for the past 3 days, he's got a tickly cough and a runny nose, I've got a sore throat, a blocked nose and a headache. Does anybody know anything I/we can take to help ease/erradicate it?
Thanks,
Jules x

Re: Stinking cold... what can I take??
Jules, the best thing for you is standard paracetamol, along with a drink of homemade lemon and honey, preferably hot.
I know things like lemsip are not allowed in PG, not sure about when BF - but to be honest, they are only paracetamol with a synthetic lemon in them - you are much better with fresh.
With your LO, it depends wether you are happy to give him medicine or prefer natural. He is over 3 months,so infant paracetamol or Medised. I use medised when mine have cold - it has added ingredients to help them breath easier at night time, getting a better a night sleep for you both.
There is a natural remedy that Sweetieberlin uses - but, again, cant remember what it is (blame the hormones!).
Im sure Katie will remember what it is!

Re: Stinking cold... what can I take??
We really can't give you any medical advice.
I always take Strepsils, dring hot water with honey and lemon, take paracetamol, use Carvol menthol drops and mild baby rub, like Vick VapoRub on my back, nothing to irritating for baby's eyes and nose.
Plenty of rest
We have family recepie for colds, sounds and is tasting terrible, but works perfectly:I always use it!:
cup of hot milk, one crushed garlic clove into the milk, one tbsp of honey ans tsp of butter, all stirred togetger and drank hot in one big sip.Repeat few times and cold is gone.
I can' remember either! But if you go to pharmacy they will give you est advice.
What we can do, we can check medication you got to see is it safe for you and baby.
