Hi everyone, this is my first posting. I have 3 daughters aged 13yrs, 9yrs and 14 weeks. They were all born early at 28, 33 and 35 weeks. I did not breast feed my oldest two but am really enjoying breast feeding our latest addition. As i expected my baby to come early, I started expressing breast milk at 30 weeks gestation and managed to build up and freeze a good supply whilst pregnant. This ment I could exclusively breast feed my 35/40 baby whilst she was under the care of the special care baby unit. They had never had anyone provide milk expressed antenatally and I wonder if you have heard of it?

Hello and I have heard of women expressing milk whilst pregnant and freezing it. I never had milk before my son was born but what a great idea if you can do it.
Congratulations of breastfeeding long may you continue :boob:

Re: new member
hello and welcome!
I am pregnant with number 3, and i am leaky (nearly 32 weeks), but doubt i would have enough to express - although if i pumped it would probably create more.
Well done though - what great thinking!
Glad you are getting on well, look forward to chatting soon :aww:

Hiya and Wekcome to BB!
I have 7 kids and my last 2 were prem 27 & 28 weeks!
I managed to breastfeed both and built up a good supply for ICU while they were there, then SCBU! I have heard of Mums expressing ante-natally although it was only small ammounts but as you will know everything counts and at first it is only tiny ammounts they start with. Mine were on 1ml an hour for the first few feeds then 2ml and so on!
Good to have another Mum of preemies on BB look forward to chatting!
Well done on the BF not many Mums of premature babies continue to do so after they get home!
Re: new member
Thanks everyone. Im still enjoying breast feeding my little one. I am due to return to work at the beginning of march, I will be doing 3 days a week, shift work, anyone have any tips on how to combine feeding and working? I dont want her to have any formula milk and she will take my breast milk via a cup or bottle if i am not there, but im worried that my milk supply may become reduced. And im unsure how many feeds she will be taking then. She will be just six months when I retun to work.

My youngest was born the 13th september. I was worried about starting off contractions whilst expressing, but my consultant was very supportive and just said to stop doing it if i got any tightenings!! made sense!! :boob:
