Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

I sit on the fence on this one - i really dont know how i feel about it.

I dont agree that the childminder did this with out prior discussion - I would be upset as the mother if i walked in on a childminder BF my baby and i hadnt given the go ahead.

wow ive just read that article and dont know what to think, i suppose in some circumstances its a great idea like the mother who was injured, personally i couldnt ,i get jumpy if someone just picks up my babe!!! and i agree with the last statement that it would be awful if it came back in just to make it more 'convenient'. whats everyone elses views on this?

I wouldn't like anyone apart from me feeding my baby, as ang said, it a mother baby bond and I would be very upset if someone did that.

If however I was in hospital and very poorley and I had a friend that breastfed and Oli was very young, I might of conciderd it.

Otherwise its a big no no No

There is a piece going on in London TV or something, it is hot hot topic right now, they are looking for moms with simmilar experiences and moms who know someone...

I personally wouldn't bat an eye to feed someones child IF mother is unable. Or if she would ask me.
And I would gratiously take a gift form healthy recently tested mother if I wouldn't be able to continue.

I think - and you all can disagree with me- there isn't a difference in donating breast milk and breastfeeding someones child- other tham spreading more love with warm touch and cuddle.

For me the biggest issue is that there was no conversation prior to feeding between mother and chilmonder.

And we need to remember breast milk is a body fluid and can pass different infections from feeding person to child- like HIV http://www.llli.org//llleaderweb/LV/LVFebMar99p3.html ,Hepatatis http://www.who.int/child-adolescent-health/New_Publications/NUTRITION/updt-22.htm, HTLV-1 http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/pagerender.fcgi?artid=295980&pageindex=1

Here is what LLL has to say about Wet nursing http://www.llli.org//llleaderweb/LV/LVJulAug95p53.html

looking at it from that point of view i would gladly feed someone elses baby if there was a need! its just i feel very strongly about my own!! i suppose im over the top in some circumstances but thats me! the infection thing is a worry though if its going to become a 'popular' thing

For me I dont think i would go into willy nilly, but through illness or family or something it would be ok either way.

My main issue is that the childminder did it without even discussing it - its such a personal issue I love you

I think I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of jake bfing from someone else. However I donate some of my milk to a milk bank so premature babies can feed on it. This idea has never made me feel uncomfortable. I guess I would accept ebm off another mother that I knew well but wouldn't want him actually feeding off someone else should I be unable to feed him myself for any reason. x
