Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

Gem even if you are bf you still can get pregnant.
Breasfeeding is only effective as a contraception if you are bf child under 6 months old( you are so so far so good), mother is not menstruating, there is no long gaps between breastfeeding sessions and baby is bf on demand- long gap is considered anything from 2 hours, baby is bf thru the night, there is no other food or drink supplements witch would disturbe natueal bf pattern.
I would def test Gem, it won't hurt :aww:

Did you notice any dip in supply? Period is usually accompanied by hormonal imbalance, and dip in milk supply- but it doesn't have to happen.

Actually gem, i had 1st 'fake period' aboiut where you are now - all the symptoms but no bleeding. i did have a dip in milk supply, which coincided with Coreys 16 week growth spurt affraid
but still do a test to rule it out hunny :aww:

just been driving round for ages to find a test, in the end went to trusty old asda. anyway, its negative. i bought 2 to do one in a few days just incase.
daisy has been crying on the boob a bit recently which could indicate a dip in supply.
i'd actually convinved myself on my road trip that i was pg! i was thinking 'i've been emotional lately....daisys been crying on the boob...'

:aww: hunnie

This will help:

For some women, the drop in milk supply and nipple tenderness associated with menstruation becomes more of a challenge. An effective treatment for these symptoms associated with the return of periods is to add a calcium/magnesium supplement to the diet upon ovulation and continue it through the second or third day of a period. The supplement should be 1500 calcium/750 magnesium but can be as low as 500 calcium/250 magnesium (the higher the dosage the more effective and quicker the results). It should be a combination pill. This much calcium should never be taken alone. If your cycles are not regular and you do not know when you ovulate, you can take the supplement the entire month until you begin to see a pattern to your flow. This type of supplement seems to work as it prevents the drop in blood calcium levels which occurs mid-cycle and continues through the second to third day of a period. It is this drop which is associated with the nipple tenderness and drop in milk supply as well as the uterine cramping so often experienced with menstruation. You only need to take one pill a day.
The herb, Evening Primrose, is also reported to alleviate nipple soreness brought on during ovulation or before a period. The dosage is one capsule per day.

and I always recommend vit B6 supplements too :aww:

in short words you need to take your temperatures every day and you chec your cervical mucous and ripeness of cervix to predict when u are ovulating. This method is much more reliable than traditional "count days" method, esp when you are bf. you do charts and over period of couple, maybe 3 months you'll see a pattern emerging.
