Operation
I have an operation on my knee booked for next Thursday. My arrival time at the hospital is 11:30 and I am just a day case but I will be under GA.
Will this cause any problems feeding Keira late afternoon / before bed? I didn't think to ask when I saw the consultant last.
Thanks

Re: Operation
I would suggest expressing and feeding for 24 hours after you have received any IV drugs and good luck. xxx Although at 1 year she should be fine with most of what you have as long as you wait between 6 to 8 hours. Simply because most med times rely on the fact that you are feeding an infant (under 6 months). Eta... I'll have a similar op on my shoulder in the coming months... I've been told 24 hours for a breastfeeding infant... 8 hours for a 1 year old.

Re: Operation
I think you should be perfectly fine to feed as soon as you get back tbh, just make sure you tell the anesthetist that you are breastfeeding. I did this and he used a different type of something or other ( I can't remember )

Normally with very minor surgeries, by the time you leave, most drugs are out of your system for older babies... The op I'm having done they are shaving off part of my collar bone so sadly I'll be drugged up to the eyeballs for several weeks. Even then its only 8-24 hours after the surgery as I'll be given morphine. Ask your doctors what your drug options are then go to E-Lactancia and kelly's Mom. They'll give you much more exact advice.

Re: Operation
Just wanted to let you know it all went well. I didn't get out until about 8:30, so Keira had been put to bed with a bottle of EBM, I think she only have about 4oz maybe not even that. She was apparently very happy and chripy and went down beautifully. She even gave me a full nights sleep so I didn't feed her until the following morning, a full 24hrs after feeding previously. Strangley I wasn't at all engorged and but she didn't have any trouble feeding.
