Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

I disagree with the article. What's the British Medical Journal got anything to do with it? I don't believe in smacking either and 'time out' does work. Why have they infered that 'yelling' could be better? Parents need to be consistant, I doubt a small research project would reflect the true answers here. Children thrive on bounderies, they are needed, and from nurturing, loving parents.

clinically significant conduct disorders. WTF?! Pee off British Medical Journal and leave it to the parents!

I read the article as the whole point IS to leave it to the parents - one method doesnt work over another.
I think at the end of the day, whatever discipline method is used, how the child turns out is down to the parent, and like you said, boundaries need to be in place. Its how the parent manages those boundaries that determines the end result.

I suppose it's the way it reads, very critical. Kids will be kids eh, the docs look for clinical reasons to explain behaviour.

''And forcing disobedient toddlers to have "quiet time" to reflect on their bad behaviour – a technique that has been widely adopted by British parents – made no difference to children's behaviour, the study showed.''

How is it forcing? Its a measure that a parent is taking, it makes it sound so awful lol.

Oh, while I'm here (didn't know where to post this) wondered if anyone on here has the documentary Extraordinary Breastfeeding Feb 06 that I can borrow? I lent mine to someone and never got it back.
I'd like to show my friend. I have found it on utube but it's not the whole programme.

I have disliked this woman ever since she infered that breastfeeding a toddler was wrong and encouraged the mothr to stop
