Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

This irritated me.....Evil or Very Mad

I sell handbags. It's a little sideline I have. Anyway today one of my regular customers (who's 20) rang me to ask if she could come and look at the bags I had in. I said yes, of course, so she came with her friend and we sat chatting as they looked at the bags. We are friends on facebook and she asked me if I'd joined the group supporting BFing pictures. She was suprised I was still feeding and said 'so you're up every 2 hours in the night then??'....I said no she's slept through since 3 wks (I know I'm particularly lucky) and she was Shocked ....she said she thought :boob: babies kept you up all night.

Now I know I'm lucky but is it any wonder young women are put off BFing before they've even started if thats how they think it is for everyone - ALL babies are different!!!! Some FF babies are up all flippin night too!!! I know BFing is tough for most to start with but comon!!!

It's just my BFing 'button'.....sorry.....Embarassed

Do you know what gets me even more about that? When she's pregnant the midwife is going to say "breast or bottle" and when she says "bottle" the midwife won't even try to tell her about breastfeeding!!

I found a fab article about a study done that showed that bfing mums slept better than formula feeding mums because, they tended to co sleep and were less disturbed at night when they had to feed, especially co sleeping mums. Smile

I did find this and it says bfing mums reported sleeping better...

I would have to say I am far too lazy to get up and prepare formula at night
