Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)

No cancer risk among users of oral contraceptives
Philip J Hannaford and colleagues - 12 September 2007

Taking the contraceptive pill does not increase a woman's chances of developing cancer and may even reduce the risk for most women. This a the conclusion of researchers who analysed UK cohort data spanning a 36 year period from the Royal College of General Practitioners' oral contraception study, which began in 1968.

The accompanying editorial by Olav Meirik and Timothy M M Farley makes the point that that in a developed country with an effective cervical cancer screening programme, the pill is a safe contraceptive method with respect to cancer. In some developing countries - with inadequate cervical cancer screening and healthcare services, and high cervical cancer rates - the balance of cancer risk is probably less favourable.

The old research is all about "old " type contarceptives. The ones we use now have lower dose of hormons.
But it is still advised for woman who has a history of any cancer, especialy breast, ovary or womb cancer in family, to avoid this type of contraception.

There is also a type of pillthat should not be taken if there is a history of cervical cancer in the family - a friend of mine has just found this out from her new dr after her old one had let her stay on it for 14 years (her mum died of cervical cancer and she has had 3 abnorma smears!) What is it with these Dr's doeas not one monitor them! Mad

I know but there are good Dr's out there and they all get tarred with the same brush!

It is a bit like the lastest watchdog about Maternity units and Midwifes - my hospital and midwifes were excellent!
