* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

I just think we should be bridging the gap between breastfeeding mums and bottle, as there seems to be so much tension 'breast feeding mafia' etc - I think that if we introduced our own sign language, it would make the rift widen.

and sorry about the typos in my first message - im having one of those days lol!

I would feel stupid doing it although I have been seeing quite a few more mother breastfeeding here in Spain recently and would love to go up and tell them to keep at it and ignore the doctors.

How do you think we would be able to bridge the gap? a breastfeeding mum cannot actively support breastfeeding and encourage without offending a bottlefeeding mum (not intentionally though).

This forum alone would offend bottlefeeding mums, I/we haven't set out to upset bottlefeeding mums but we actively support breastfeeding and provide information and help for that.

I can see where these women are coming from, but I do agree with you and I also feel its going a little far imo.

A mother will always beat herself up in any descision shes not happy with, especialy one that was taken out of her hands (im talking about mums who wanted to breastfeed but didn't have the right help or information) and this is on about their childs health so it will always be very taboo.
Strong opinions will always be with this subject, its so heartfelt.

This wasn't a pop at your post btw, tbh im just going on, Ive had a bad day too Breastfeeding signal??? Icon_razz

i know hun! hug2

i think i was a bit harsh with bf mafia - i was getting at that is what some see us as, usually those that feel guilty.
Having looked at other forums, i now FULLY understand why you set up breastbuddies - opinions are so divided, and there is very rarely a middle ground, and you just dont feel comfortable to talk about breastfeeding so openly without someone commenting about you ramming it down their neck or something.

I guess there isnt a way to bridge the gap as such - just more not to widen it, if that makes sense?
People need to know that breastfeeding mums arent some sort of supermum who look down on everyone, they are just normal mums doing what nature intended.
Ive seen both sides, and beaten my self up, feeling guilty for not being able to breastfeed (like said, down to lack of info/support).
Groups like this - us - are fab, a great way for mums or mums to be to ask questions without feeling silly, and to just be accepted.

gah, dunno what im saying really! I think cos of my day im in one of those 'everyone thinks im an oddball mum' type days!!!

I understand Breastfeeding signal??? 262538

And yes this is why I set up this forum so a breastfeeding mum could air her real feelings without upsetting a 'bottlefeeding mum' but we are in no way trying to put a bottlefeeding mum down.

The fact a mother feels guilty at all shows their true dedication and love for that child Breastfeeding signal??? Herz which is the most important thing.

I agree though widening an already big bridge would be totaly wrong and I think the breastfeeding signal would certainly do that.

Hmmmm I don't think this is a good idea, as has been said it's alienating bottle feeding mums when what we really want to do is encourage those who have bottle fed in the past to give breast feeding a fighting chance with further babies, IYKWIM.

And hug3 for both Natasha and Kay, hope you're both having a better day today.

Tell us about yourself : I'm a SAHM to Kacie aged 10.5 months. I'm very into an AP way of life, baby-wearing, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, etc. We're coming up to one year and I'm looking for places where I won't be looked down on for extended breastfeeding. I have no intention of weaning until Kacie wants to. We're also traying to conceive baby no. 2, so really hoping to tandam feed and will be looking for support to do this too.
