Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times

Let me explain.. my body has been thinking im still pregnant.. tasha you may have read my post on pf.. i lost a huge peice of placenta last night since that came away bailey has been feeding and my milk has flowed so much its squirting every where.. theres loads of it.. i can even pump off 6oz's.. so with that inside of me all that time do u think that could have played a big part in my milk being slow and not much!

Shocked
Did you talk to your gp or midwife about that?
Noone never noticed that nt all placenta came offf after the birth? Did you had any other symptoms than low milk supply?
sorry, for all questions, but I've never heard of it... Embarassed

yeah i went to the docters last night about it, he said im severly infected and put me on tablets to clear the infectio up etc and said i needed a scan asap.. went to my own docs this morning to arrange one and he wouldnt, just put me on pills instead and said come bck in 2 weeks if your still bleeding..
i had a section so all the placenta should have been removed by them and it wasnt..
i had tummy pains, metalic taste in my mouth and of course not eing able to feed properly..

I have managed to start the ball rolling for complaints against the hospital and my own gp.. and i have to go bck on wednesday to see the consultant who did the section.. maybe get some answers but im wondering if all this is the case of why everything been so wrong, not feeding, bleeding etc etc
raghhh bloody hospitals..

jeezz, really scary! affraid
could you go to different gp? or ask for gyno refferal, so they could scan you? I don't think private is possible, or is it?

I would send this consultant with no socks back home..you could get in touch one of thosepatient organisations, helping to deal with butchers like he...You could get ompensation for that. And I'm syre this was a reason for low milk supply and your health troubles!
Just remember to tell every doc ypu are bf, so they wont give you any meds not suitable for bf mothers. I'll pm you with some info on meds and bf while ill. :aww:

I've found a website of patients Association, they might be helpfull:
http://www.patients-association.org.uk/default.asp
you could try to contact them and ask what questions ask to the consultant, and what to do.
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/family_parent/health/nhs_complaints.htm - this is a link to NHS website:Complaints.#
and Department of Health:
http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/index.htm

Well, if it is common for them to leave placenta inside- this is even bigger reason to contact solicitor!!!This is just affraid NHS, just when I thought nothing can suprise me!
Try Patients Association, they will give you good advice!

omgoodness, I hope you are ok!

That would totally explain your nursing problems....yes, your body would think you are still pregnant if you retain a section of placenta.

My goodness, I'm glad you weren't seriously ill because of this!!
