Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

👋 Hiya

When is the best time to introduce them?

I have given Oli her yogurt spoon to hold after shes eaten the yogurt, but what else do I need to do?

Whats the best age, and when should they really start using them instead of fingers?

I dunno the age, but we started to give Maya spoon or fork too!!!! cheers
Those girls, honestly...Wink bliss

She love's fork, mostly still feeding by fingers, but she is giving fork a go. She prefers food on a plate too now, instead of just on a tray- highchair tray- she will eat much more off the plate Shocked

scratch Maybe I should start putting some on a plate.

I will give it ago.

I will get her those hard plastic type forks for children and see how she goes, I don't want to give her an adult one, you should see her with a spoon Rolling Eyes she will have her eye out with a proper one Razz

we gave her one of John's, lol

He has two sets of those: http://www.tekability.com/catalog/item251.htm; just in different colours. I like them; only minus is he keeps chewing on ends.
But you can buy it in boots and most supermarkets too. There is a version with Winnie the Pooh and hard case to put cuttlery in when not used.

We started with a soft fork from about 12 months with both - just let them have a play with it on tray and watch you eating with it.
They play with at 1st, and bang on tray etc, but soon get the hang of it!

Connor used to 'help' with a spoon from weaning but didin't really have an idea till about 12-18 month age. He had plastic kiddie sets fork/spoon from about 18 months.
It is play to beging with but they learn through play (OMG U can tell i am back at work even the jargon is coming out!!!)

Ok I must be going wrong somewhere!!!!!
You'd think Zach being my 7th I'd have him all ship shape and doing it by the book............ :lmao:
Well spoon and fork are given to him at every meal (even snack times for little cubes of cheese, apple n banana pieces!) and every time he chucks them at me or on the floor and squeals with laughter! :bang:
I wipe them and give them back and in my ever so serious, cross voice say "No Zachary eat dinner nicely" to which he promptly chucks them on the floor again and squeals with laughter. bliss
So I think all your LOs are doing fantastic not like my young tearaway who prefers to use his hands fro everything.including spaghetti bolognese, custard, yoghurt, korma, stew all of which he refuses to eat off spoon from me or Dad!!! :awno:

HAPPY DAYS :rolllaugh:
