I got offered a formula milk sample today at lil miss' 9 month check today... Nutriben AR 2 for reflux. I'm so annoyed.... I was really proud of my achievements to get to 9 months.... lil miss still throws up a lot, and has dropped a centile... but she is also extremely active now...never sits still for 30 seconds, and much prefers a good boob and finger food, so doesn't eat loads, but shes always eating (if you know what I mean). But apparently I should try this formula as it helps stop them being sick... I asked her "wasn't it illegal to offer formula samples to breast feeding mothers?" well that sample disappeared quick. :pml:

For the health 'professionals' to be giving this out is rediculous!
(Wonder if they are getting a cash incentive from the company?)

OMG thats awful! I would definately report her!
There was a Heinz Nurture person giving out free samples in Asda a few week ago he had a stand in the baby aisle. I was waiting for him to ask me if i wanted one and i was gonna go mad lol. But he was only targeting women who were looking at formula. I still think its awful though giving free samples :iconsad:

Its not right... really it isn't...several Spanish people have said to me that formulas are as good as breast milk.. so where are they getting this info from? Bloody formula companies thats where... I was just waiting for this silly woman to make a comment like that and I would have started. I would report her but I reported the SCBU unit at the hospital for preventing me from breastfeeding lil miss and giving her formula, and saying she needed formula as it was better than breast milk because she was sick.. and what happened? I got a nice letter basically telling me that they were ignoring me. Evil or Very Mad

This is disgusting, the practice is the same in the UK, noone will do whats right I just dont get it.

These hvs etc must be getting money from the ff companies, otherwise why be so darn stubborn about it and keep promoting it! when they know for a FACT its nothing compaired to breastmilk and they not putting all they have into helpign and encouraging women, all gone about the wrong way!

really really gets on my tits!!

I'm very lucky as the HVs in my area are brilliant and very supportive of breastfeeding, it's just a pity there isn't enough of them to go around Crying or Very sad

Yes I would love the opportunity to challenge people giving samples of formula. I've been sent come from C&G and Hipp Organic - they went straight in the bin.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people formula feeding, just as long as they not operating under the assumption it's as good as breastmilk.

The fact is there is no benefit to breastfeeding - it is the physiological norm. There are only risks to formula feeding. Personally this is the message that needs to be got across to mothers and mothers-to-be.l But they won't because this will guilt trip mums who wanted to breastfeed and weren't able to.

Tell us about yourself : People who have kids by more than 3 different men are SLAGS. They don't give a shit about the welfare of their children, otherwise they would be keeping their bloody legs shut and creating a STABLE environment for their kids, either in a stable relationship or as a single mother - because single mothers are perfectly capable of being fantastic parents. If you want to sleep around use some fucking contraception until you are sure your partner is in it for the long haul, it is not fucking difficult. Kids need stability - they don't need a succession of men coming in and out of their life.
