Breastfeeding tip : Recognising a growth spurt

* You feel as though you haven't got enough
* Baby getting upset at the breast (though can be a sign of other common problems)
* Baby is breastfeeding often or almost nonstop (feel like baby is always wanting to feed)
* A baby who was previously sleeping through the night is now waking to breast feed several times
* Baby will latch and unlatch, fussing in between

2 Feeds a day? Empty 2 Feeds a day?

Post by happy_chick Wed Jan 14, 2009 8:37 pm

Will my supply be ok even though she now only having 2 feeds a day (and a very quick on in afternoon one which i suspect she will drop soon) as im worried that my supply will drop too low and my milk will dry up? She feeds morning at around 8am then night at around 8pm.

Thanks x

Also i just thought, she may go through a phase of wanting more again so youwill have the supply battle again, but its unlikely most when they start to drop around this age carry on dropping and finish on their own. She may want more if shes poorly etc.

Yeh i understand she might want more if shes poorly and stuff i dont mind that.

What age do they normally self wean? When they do this is it sudden or is it more likely she would drop one feed then just drop the other?

Sorry for all questions lol not been on here for ages Smile Celebration for me on monday too... We reach the 1 year mark :cheer: Very Happy :boob:

Very Happy

Well I think the average is actualy 2 years, i think it was that?

But Olivia started doing what Ellie did at the same age, and my 13 months she had her last feed one night and then decided she didn't want it the next!

Oli dropped one feed after the other and just ended up with one night one before bed.

Oh and congrats hun nearly there!! bliss

I had milk long after Emily dropped her last feed.

She had her bedtime boobies only for quite a few months.
