Re: Fenugreek & molasses
The molasses you can take forever - it is a very good daily tonic, and is recommended for daily use!
With regard to Fenugreek - there is some great advice here

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
What make's you think you have issue with supply?
I would eat molasses but hold on with Fenugreek. There is no need to use herbs/meds,hun! You'r body will adjust itself to your baby's needs esasily and galactogues will only confuse it.
Only in cases of serious low supply/issues with baby's weight gain I would recommend Fenugreek.
Sounds to me like you might be low in iron? Is it possible?
You could try molasses- will def make big difference with iron defieciency and take care of yourself: eat well, drink plenty of water. Also green veg esp leafy veg is high in iron, folic acid and other great vitamins whitch will help you get better soon.

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
I lost over a litre of blood with my c-section and iron level was only a 7, i was on iron tablets for 3 months but still feel dizzy & tired alot of the time so yes could be my iron is still low. As for supply i guess i pressumed that i was off food & she wasnt gaining weight & getting very fidgety & upset at the end of a feed maybe my level had dropped?

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
aww hun! I would def give molasses/ green veg a shot! Just please remember:if you are eating veg high in iron you shold have glass of orange juice/cranberry juice or other juice high in vit C as this will help iron absorb better. I've totally forgot about animal source of iron :haha: Liver, red meat and so on.I lost over a litre of blood with my c-section and iron level was only a 7, i was on iron tablets for 3 months but still feel dizzy & tired alot of the time so yes could be my iron is still low

To be honest it would have to be something seriously bad to mess up with your supply :aww: I know you've just recovered from mastitis and you probably still feel under the weather, but I doubt your supply was affected much. As long as you follow baby, feed on clue and not skip many (I understand- mums need time away from baby too ) feeds your supply will adjust back to where it was. You could try other ways to increase supply if you are worried. We have few tips in this section:
https://breastbuddies.forumotion.com/breastfeeding-problems-f17/reasons-and-treatment-for-low-milk-supply-t125.htm
As for Emily being fussy at the end of feeding: did you try to burb her?
Or switch breast and then reoffer first one?
Or could she be teething?
Now, weight gain:
did you weigh her recently? ---if yes would you mind posting her weights and dates weighing was done, please, so we can have closer look on it?
Breastfed babies tend to gain weight fast at the beggining- in first months and then slow down, keeping their own pace.
Also is she more active now? More tummy time?
Cold, runny nose?
Many things could affect her weight gain.
Don't worry too much :aww: You are doing great job!!!

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
She did gain loads at the begining so i guess she has just slowed down now. Also yes teething shes dribbling all day long bless her and gnawing on everything including me & yes awake more in the day quite a bit more actually. I find she gets annoyed at the end of feed I burp her give a min then offer other one shes happy to go left as its my 'fast' boob but she gets more frustrated if offered right one as its slower...Does that make sense?
Its crazy i thought making it this far would mean its all plain sailing but i worry as much as in the begining !!!

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
I do understand about boobs! I do have goodie and baddie too
Don't worry too much!!!- you can little, you are a mum, its your privilege
Now, how silly am I?? I forgot to paste link in previous post
Here it goes:
https://breastbuddies.forumotion.com/breastfeeding-problems-f17/reasons-and-treatment-for-low-milk-supply-t125.htm
Sorry for that, I'm having another mummy moment I think
And few teething tips:
You could use wet then frozen wash cloth- give it to her to chew on for a while, not too log, just enough to numb her gums a little and help with discomfort.
You could use cold teething rings for her to chew on;
Also if baby is in great discomfort you could use teething homeophatic remedies like Teetha or others, you can get them in pharmacy.
Also momisicles are great: fun for baby woth first "solids" but its still mama's milk and its cold- so helps with pain.
Teething gels are not recommended for breastfeeding babies, as they tend to numb gums and tongue what is affecting way baby is latching on and sucking.
HTH :aww:

Re: Fenugreek & molasses
Yup!
I didnt know they did them in capsules! thats a great idea for those that dont like the taste - well found Gem!
I actually use the one in the jar from holland and barratt - its a huge jar for £1 something, and you can use it in cooking etc and eat it off the spoon.
